Remembering Dennis Hopper, Dead at 74
Acclaimed actor and director Dennis Hopper died Saturday at 74 after a long struggle with prostrate cancer. Having starred in more than 100 movies, Hopper is perhaps best known for his roles in Apocalypse Now , Blue Velvet , and Hoosiers , along with the iconic Easy Rider , which he also co-wrote and directed. Co-star and co-writer Peter Fonda released the following statement upon news of Hopper’s death.

James McAvoy Cast as Young Professor X in X-Men: First Class
It looks like actor James McAvoy will go from fledgling super-powered assassin in Wanted to founder of a team of fledgling superheroes in X-Men: First Class . According to THR , McAvoy has landed the role of Professor Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, in director Matthew Vaughn ‘s prequel to the X-Men franchise.

Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer Start Pushed Back to February 2011
The start of production on New Line Cinema’s and Legendary Pictures’ Jack the Giant Killer has been pushed back from this summer to February 2011, according to THR . Among the reasons cited for the delay is director Bryan Singer ‘s interest in being able to pre-visualize scenes with the digital giants in-camera with the live-action actors (a la James Cameron ‘s Avatar ) and the need for more time to work out the complex process.

New Inception Character Posters
Warner Bros. has released a series of new posters for writer-director Christopher Nolan ‘s follow-up to The Dark Knight , the sci-fi thriller Inception . The highly anticipated — and highly confusing to many — movie centers around a thief (played by Leonardo DiCaprio ) who steals ideas from the dreams of his targets, which explains the mind-bending, physics-busting visuals seen in the trailers.

New Toy Story 3 "Great Escape" Featurette and Movie Clip
Walt Disney and Pixar are setting up Toy Story 3 as an “escape movie,” with first a poster and now a featurette referencing the 1963 classic movie The Great Escape . In this third chapter, Andy has gone off to college and his mom donates the toys to Sunnyside Daycare, which turns out to be anything but a “sunny” place.
