Untitled Cheech & Chong Animated Project (2010)
I haven’t seen any good stoner movies lately. I wish there were some good stoner movies in theaters now so I could go watch them…stoned. According to the internet movie database, the wait shouldn’t be too much longer.
Cheech and Chong are coming out with another one of their drug-induced films! The only weird thing about this one is that it’s going to be animated. They’ll still play themselves but how true can they stay to Cheech and Chong the characters when they are animated? I guess we’ll find out in due time.
The Untitled Cheech and Chong Animated Project is still in production so no word on a release date yet.
Could this project fall under their top grossing movies? I’m hoping it does. If they’re still willing to keep us entertained, I’m willing to pay the ten bucks to see them.
Alfred Hitchcock
He is well-known for his later films such as Saboteur and Rear Window and Dial M for Murder. You might even know him for a spoof of one of his movies like High Anxiety. You owe a debt of gratitude to Alfred Hitchcock, however, if you enjoy films fillled with drama.
The first work that Alfred Hitchcock ever did was drafting and designing advertisements. His interest in movies and his writing skill made him a successful designed of title cards used in movies without sound.
Before becoming a director, Alfred Hitchcock was a writer of silent films such as The Mystery Road in Great Britain and Germany. Finally he was given a chance and directed The Pleasure Garden in 1925. He then moved forward as a director for other silent films. It was immediately evident he was skilled at story telling with unique camera work.
It is unfortunate that some of these works from earlier years are only known from small clips of the film or have gone missing entirely.
Once spoken word was added to movies, his dialog added yet more suspense to his rich films. Many of his early films took place in Great Britain. Once these talkies found commercial success, he gained access to more resources so that he could improve his movie making even more.
Alfred Hitchcock is best known to young people today because some of his films have been remade recently. Remakes of many of his later films were huge box office successes.
If you get the chance to watch one of Hitchcock’s films, be sure to watch for him. He often made cameo appearances of some type in his films. Here are a few examples:
* Blackmail made in 1929 where he is seen being bothered by a small boy as he reads a book in the subway
* Under Capricorn made in 1949 where he is seen in the town square during a parade, wearing a blue coat and brown hat
* The Trouble with Harry made in 1955 where he is seen walking past the parked limousine of an old man who is looking at paintings
* The Paradine Case made in 1947 where he is seen leaving the train at Cumberland Station, carrying a cello
* The 39 Steps made in 1935 where he is seen tossing some litter while Robert Donat and Lucie Mannheim run from the theater.
Television Commercials
It was like when a television ad was being shown you had enough time to go to the bathroom or have something cool to drink from the refrigerator. Because the commercial was not aired long enough you could not do both.
July 1, 1941 had the 1st television commercial on air. Lasting only 20 seconds, it was for the Bulova Watch Company. It could be seen during a baseball showdown between teams from Brooklyn and Philadelphia. It cost Bulova a total of nine dollars to run this advertisement. New York was where this happened. The commercial, televised by WNBT, showed a photograph of a Bulova watch placed on top of a map – the watch was placed on the US. You could hear a voice in the background: “America runs on Bulova time!”
It did not take long for the world of commerce to realize the importance of advertisements. Advertising industries have spent billions of not only to create catchy ads, but to make viewers remain at the TV during commercial breaks.
After TV viewing became common in family life, most families owned at least one television, and shows that were one hour only contained 9 minutes of commercials, and 51 minutes of actual programming. Nowadays, the same 1 hour television slot has forty two minutes of shows with eighteen minutes of ads. Eight minutes of commercials in a thirty minute time slot is a large chunk of time not devoted to entertainment.
Television commercials may vary from something as simple as a salesman promoting a product, to as complex as those commercials that use actors and detailed computer graphics. Each individual has his own opinion regarding the best use of commercial airtime. Now, instead of a single one minute commercial, four commercials of 15 second each are recommended.
